Well, I have started a Facebook page to showcase my hand dyed fabrics, batiks, and abstract fractured watercolors.

Who Knew Garages Could be So Much Fun!

Well, I just posted a new link to my Facebook page to share my hand dyed fabrics, batiks, and abstract fractured watercolors.

I have been working for several weeks now on creating art cloth that can be hung, framed, or used for other projects.

My garage is now my wet studio albeit no sink, but the laundry room comes in handy for that. My washing machine is my magic tool for marbling, my work tables from Sam's are now my creation stations, an old electric skillet is for the soy wax, and one of my many irons is doing double duty. Color, color, color. It is sooo much fun. Hoping to get an Etsy site up soon.

Fiber Artists of Oklahoma was so much fun this week sharing Valentine's Day, chocolates, great textile books and lots of laughs especially about my life studio experience!

Going to PlayDate on Saturday at the TU Costume Department to work with more Rit Color Remover, Rit Dye, and Pre-Sist.

Log cabin quilt is slowly being finished, need to get on my Embellisher and start working on my project for July.

Planning the trip for Missouri with the Dye girls - going to see Sharon Kilfolye to study shibori again, going to visit Valeria Doran Bashaw to see her shibori also, and hoping to go to Carol Leigh Brack Kaiser's weaving studio in Columbia.

Down the road, SAQA/SDA International Conference in Philadelphia - going with Janice Filler - can't wait!

So much to do, so many projects, so much free time - I LOVE RETIREMENT!!

Where to start and what to finish!

I am in the midst of dyeing fabric, overdyeing fabric, working on batik and ink washed fabric, taking crochet lessons, figuring out abstract watercolor for my Thursday class, working on a round robin piece for the Surface Design Yahoo group, reorganizing my garage to make it into a sort of wet studio minus the sink, and discovering that I seem to have at least two of everything in my studio! Such a problem....

I love all of my projects and classes. Tried life drawing - two different places in one week, one lady had her clothes on at the local rec center, one man had his clothes off at the local art museum. Neither situation appealed to me. I really am more abstract in my thinking and it was boring to me. He wasn't cute either!

Oh well, it's the weekend and I need to tie up some loose ends with paperwork and think about working on my taxes. Going to the ballet on Sunday with my friend Ann and looking forward to that.

I am getting more proficient with my IPAD and I am now taking pictures off of the television. Just wished that the IPAD used Flash. I do watch Netflix now using my IPAD connected to the tv and that is neat.
What a great tool for archiving ideas for textile work. There are some new apps out for art applications for the IPAD so I am busy learning those. My new IMAC is keeping me busy and organized and I wish I had changed from the PC platform a long time ago.

My dye group is traveling to Missouri at the end of February to take another workshop with our friend Sharon Kilfoyle. We are very excited! We are also going to visit Valerie Doran Bashaw, another fiber artist. We are planning on spending some time in Columbia and we will explore the shops and galleries there too and also go to Carol Brack's weaving studio.

I am looking forward to the SDA/SAQA conference in Philadelphia at the end of March. I am taking a class with Adrienne Sloane on freeform knitting so I will be brushing up on my knitting skills before too long.

I was sitting in my studio this afternoon with my friend Jeanne K. working on a quilt and I looked around the room and noticed how often I use pink in everything I do. But then I use a lot of green now also.

Have a great weekend; wherever you are and whatever you are doing I hope you are having fun and being creative.

Remember go to the studio, don't think about it; just do it!

Yes, Victoria!!

September 5, 2011 -  Yes, Victoria I do have a blog!!

It turns out I already had a blog; albeit a very short one called Silk and Sateen, about dyeing fabric.

Now I've added another blog, Mimi's Place for the grandchildren and another blog, Michele Lasker for my studio.

The weather is changing in Tulsa, it's considerably cooler and the pool is filling fast with leaves. Time to close the pool and avoid the leaf mess!
